A dog owner and social media user has gone viral after sharing the disastrous results of his wife’s decision to try and groom their Pomeranian at home to save a bit of cash.
There’s a reason people have to spend a lot of time and effort training to become a hairstylist or dog groomer.
Cutting hair – or fur – is not as easy as it may initially appear.
You’ve got to make sure you take the right amount off the ends and get it all level, or your client (human or canine) can end up looking drastically different than planned.
One woman recently found this out the hard way after she decided to take clippers into her own hands and groom her dog at home.
TikTok user @kcuse shared a video of the results of his wife’s attempt to give their pomeranian a haircut.
The video has gone viral on TikTok
The dog looks like a different breed without all its fur
Text on the video reads: “Ever wonder what a pomeranian looks like when your wife tries to save a few $$ and grooms him herself?”
The clip pans around the house, the hallway and the living room before finally revealing the dog’s new look.
And it’s fair to say the pooch is completely unrecognisable from his former self.
If you didn’t know he was a pomeranian, you’d never have guessed.
The jaw-dropping TikTok has since gone viral, being viewed almost two million times and garnering more than 104,000 likes.
Thousands also took the time to reply, with many horrified by the haircut.
One person said: “Aww poor thing! You should never shave a pomeranian! Their undercoat is what keeps them regulated, hope that hair grows back.”
Another wrote: “Sorry to break it to you bestie but I have heard that pom hair doesn’t grow back the same.”
A third replied: “She did that dog wrong!”
Someone else proclaimed: “That’s so sad… we have a rescue pom and she came to us in that state. Took two years for her coat to grow back. Sorry not funny.”
The TikToker also posted an update in the comments to reassure concerned viewers. He added: “For all those wondering, he has been shaved this short since he was a pup and his fur has always grown back with no problems.”
